victory against Belarius 72-70!
This game was so important to us. First of all I am glad for the girls. It was tough but at the end we came out strong. Girls deserve credit for that.
1period: 13-20 (win and looks like we control the game)
2period: 23-19 (defensively we lack trust and disciple)
3period: 19-17
4period: 15-16
The main focus for us was to start with defence: man to man and team rotation. In the meeting before the game I wanted girls to understand and believe how important is to have ownership. It gives us power and feeds with energy.
Somehow, the reason it was a close game is that we didnt trust our help side and did so many defensive possesions half way-helping half way ,rotating half way. They played not that stuctured basket, moving alot without the ball, cutting ,looking to attack and kick it out. We put them to FT line to often. We needed to have a direct response to the ball movement and see the ball and own player and help all the way.
Positive thing is that we won rebounding by 9.
Offensively, they double inside right away. We struggled to see and react to it, we didnt punished them enoug for that. Instead making the pass to an open person, we dribbled direct to trap. In the game of basketball it is all about adjustments and taking advantage. I think we could have been more aggressive playing pick/roll, attacking more from the screen.
Beata and Dani had a good performance which makes me happy. I think with this win we I HOPE can put aside pressure and just play hard and enjoy atmoshere and each other. It is just to stick together and work us up. Team is like a marriage, no matter what we stick together through the tought times and happy times!
